1. Paradisiacal beaches
The beaches of Aruba are widely considered to be among the cleanest, widest, and most spectacular in the Caribbean region. Beachgoers relax on their comfortable lounges while swimming, snorkeling, kite surfing, waterskiing, tubing, parasailing, kayaking and other water sports. Eagle Beach is considered one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The white sand here seems to stretch on forever. The water is great for swimming, and there are numerous refreshment spots.
2. Arikok National Park
It’s Aruba’s national treasure and home to a long list of animal species and plant life. The Visitors’ Center houses an exhibit of endemic animals such as the Aruban whiptail lizard (cododo), Aruban cat eye snake (santanero) and endangered rattle snake (cascabel). Park rangers offer individualized tours that showcase fascinating flora and fauna and interesting historical sites. The park has great beaches; ocean waters can be rough and currents strong. For cooling off the National Pool is perfect for taking a dip.
3. Aruba wreck dive sites
Aruba is known as one of the world’s greatest scuba locations in the world. It’s famous for having the best wrecks to dive in the entire Caribbean. Quite a few interesting wrecks rest on the sea floor off the shores of Aruba, including airplanes, huge tankers, barges and tugs, and a four hundred foot German freighter that was scuttled during World War II.
4. Delicious dishings
Aruba’s dining scene is exceptional, and pleasing to a variety of palates. There are more than 200 beach-y bistros, romantic restaurants, and classic cunucus serving superb food. We recommend the Sopi di Pampuna (Pumpkin Soup), Keshi Yena (a filled cheese shell with spiced meat), and the Signature Papaya Fish (red snapper filet, confetti polenta and The Old Man & the Sea’s famous signature papaya sauce), among many other culinary dishes. 5. Nightlife
Aruba’s nightlife caters for a variety of tastes. There are several charming and exciting nightspots with dancing and entertainment as well as lively action-filled casinos. Hotels and nightclubs feature water ballet, international entertainers, fashion shows, local dance groups, limbo and fire dances, steel bands, discos and the pulsating beat of local bands. 6. Shopping
Aruba shopping offers fashionable international brands at duty free prices. Shoppers often visit this happy island looking to buy jewelry, table linens, perfumes, leather goods, designer fashions, electronics, locally made handicrafts, Cuban cigars, Dutch Delft, Dutch Cheeses, and many more superior and favorably priced goods.
If you arrive by cruise ship, you will have no problem finding the shopping district as L.G. Smith Boulevard runs right through it. The shopping area is also only a few minutes walk from the seaport. Many stores are located on Caya G.F. (Betico) Croes.
Aruba traveling tip: Some stores close between noon and 2pm, and many shops and malls close by 6pm. If you plan to make a special trip, call ahead to be sure the stores you want to visit are open.
