Sun, sea, and sand. A good shrimp cocktail, an evening cocktail and you’re off. But what is that catchy tune playing just down the beach? No beach vacation would be complete without a couple of songs that just keep playing.

These are a few that we keep hearing on the beach this year. If you couldn’t place one last time, these are most requested we’re hearing by the beach or pool, just to get you going.

1. Cuando Calienta el Sol – Luis Miguel

Iconic since way back in 1987, Luis Miguel’s album, “Soy Como Quiero Ser” and… The video clip was recorded in Acapulco!

2. Come and Get Your Love – Redbone

18 weeks at the top of the charts, but a lot of people still can’t believe this funk-rock classic is from way back in 1973.

3. Yes Sir, I Can Boogie – Baccara

Released originally in 1977, it’s still an obnoxiously catchy tune. Though Baccara obviously didn’t speak English, they could sing it (sort of). That it’s made its kitschy comeback at all is reason enough to keep dancing.

4. Lambada – Kaoma

Really called “Chorando se foi,”  it’s a Brazilian melody known worldwide and happily played on beaches everywhere.

5. Conga – Gloria Stefan, Miami Sound Machine

The 1985 hit from the album “Primitive Love,” Conga brought Latin and pop rhythms to the mainstream. But the original is still something to keep you moving.

6. La Chica del Bikini Azul – Luis Miguel

Lots of people will tell you that Luis Miguel simply goes hand in hand with the beach. On the Caribbean, there’s still little that sounds quite so classic.

7. Vamos a la Playa – Loona

A 2010 hit, there’s never been a better reason to get back to the beach. And sometime electronic music like this just suits the chill-out in early evening like nothing else.

8. To My Love – Bomba Stereo

A reggae – electronic classic, Bomba Stereo stormed out of Colombia in 2015. The tropical success has been a mainstay on beaches worldwide ever since.

9. Despacito – Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee

The beach has a way of preserving certain songs, and here, 2017 seems like it was yesterday.  Despacito’s never stopped being played but hearing it on the beach stirs something in everyone.

10. Calma – Pedro Capó

A 2018 Latin classic, if this one doesn’t drive you straight to the beach there’s something wrong. Fortunately, hearing it at the beach will calm your very soul.
