Many of us look to Royal Holiday to open ourselves to new horizons and live exciting experiences. With affiliated resorts and hotels in Central and South America, we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in a range of possibilities. From the surfing paradise, beaches, to the snow-capped mountains of Argentina, this region of the world offers us incredible diversity for our vacations.
Venturing further south, Brazil should not be overlooked. As the largest country in South America, it boasts thousands of kilometers of untouched coastline and some of the most thrilling cities in the southern hemisphere. The extensive Amazon River may be the country’s backbone, but its heart beats in Rio de Janeiro, its cultural capital, and Sao Paulo, its largest city. Often, Royal Holiday partners flock to Rio to enjoy the Carnival, one of the world’s largest festivals.
Among the Spanish-speaking countries of South America, Uruguay has become a popular destination for many travelers, including myself. Known for its friendly culture and coastline, the South American Riviera, Uruguay boasts tourist cities like Punta del Este, where water sports enthusiasts and sun lovers gather on the beaches. And for those seeking more than soft sands and cool waters, the capital, Montevideo, remains one of South America’s most charming destinations, with its modern architecture and famous historical treasures, like the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Colonia del Sacramento.
The two countries at the southern end of the continent, Chile and Argentina, form a region in themselves. Argentina, stretching from subtropical forests to mountain glaciers, includes one of the most cosmopolitan and interesting cities on the continent: Buenos Aires. Or “the Switzerland of South America,” Bariloche, with its various ski resorts and picturesque European-style country houses. On the border with Chile, Royal Holiday resorts include cities like Iquique and Santiago de Chile, which offer culture, music, and delicious cuisine to enjoy.
